Internet in the Czech Republic: what the data says

Overview of the internet provider market and connection availability based on official data from the Czech Telecommunication Office (ČTÚ). We update with each new data year and continuously monitor changes in the register of providers. Last updated 30. 8. 2026.

How coverage is developing

Share of address points with fibre (FTTH/FTTB) and speeds above 300 Mb/s and 1 Gb/s. During the period under review, the share of addresses with fibre increased from 9.3 % to 15.1 %, and the average highest available speed rose from 174 Mb/s to 247 Mb/s.

People in Čím connect

Number of address points where the given technology is available (data year 2025). One address usually has several technologies to choose from, so the total exceeds 100 %.

Fibre remains the privilege of a minority of municipalities

Of the 6,168 municipalities we monitor, 3,088 (50 %) has not even a single address point with a fibre connection. Conversely, 180 municipalities have fibre available at 95 per cent or more of addresses - often thanks to a single local internet provider that built the network. We monitor the register of internet providers daily. From 21. 8. 2026 to 29. 8. 2026, 1 entities offering internet access services were added and 1 terminated their service.

Metodika

Providers are sourced from the Czech Telecommunication Office (ČTÚ) register of entrepreneurs in electronic communications; we filter for active entities offering internet access services and verify them against the ARES register. Availability is calculated using ČTÚ geographic data (ESD/VPortal): for each address point, we take the highest advertised speed and the fibre connection indicator before aggregating. Data year 2025 describes the status as of 31. 12. 2024 - ČTÚ publishes data with a delay. More on the page about data.
